WHY YOU NEED A
DESTINATION WEDDING PLANNER
Planning a destination wedding comes with unique challenges—from coordinating guest travel to managing resort details and timelines from miles away. A destination wedding planner ensures nothing is overlooked and handles the logistics on your behalf. We act as your liaison between the airlines, resorts, and venues, managing the details so you don’t have to. All you need to do is relax, have fun, and fully enjoy your unforgettable celebration.
Details to Consider.....
Are We Right For You
All too often, couples spend hours typing “destination wedding” into a search engine, only to end up more confused and overwhelmed. Resorts start to look the same, and it’s hard to know where to start. With my 26 years as a wedding planner, I know the right questions to ask and the details that matter most. Instead of spending endless hours online, take 30–60 minutes to connect with a real wedding expert who can guide you through the process.
Budget
Consider how much you’re comfortable asking your guests to spend on a three-night getaway. Typically, budgets begin around $1,100 per person for a three-night, all-inclusive vacation that includes airfare, hotel accommodations, transfers, meals, drinks, tips, and taxes. Keep in mind, pricing often reflects the overall experience—quality, service, and amenities can vary, so it’s important to choose an option that balances value and comfort for you and your guests.
Destination
Choosing the right destination is a key part of planning a destination wedding, as it impacts guest attendance, travel ease, and overall budget. The destination also sets the tone for your celebration, from a relaxed beach ceremony to a vibrant tropical escape. Selecting a location with convenient travel options and experienced wedding venues helps ensure a smooth planning process and an unforgettable experience for everyone.
Resorts
Are you dreaming of a small, intimate wedding or a lively celebration full of activities? All-inclusive resorts simplify planning by including meals, drinks, and often a semi-private reception space—making it easier for guests to budget and giving you more flexibility. Plus, the savings can be put toward special touches, like upgrading your honeymoon suite or adding extra experiences to your celebration.
Dates
Your wedding date plays a major role in determining the overall cost of your destination wedding and your guests’ travel expenses. Airfare and resort pricing fluctuate throughout the year, so choosing the right timing can make a big difference. Sending a Save-the-Date 12–16 months in advance gives guests ample time to plan, budget, and secure travel at the best rates.
Seasonal pricing typically breaks down as follows:
-
Peak Season (Higher Rates): Mid-January through Easter and all major holidays
-
Mid-Season (Average Rates): Easter through August and early January
-
Low Season (Lower Rates): September through early November and early December
Selecting the right date can help keep costs manageable while ensuring your guests can comfortably attend and enjoy your celebration.
Ceremony
Choosing the right ceremony location is key for a destination wedding—it sets the tone for your day and shapes the experience for your guests. From a beachfront ceremony to a garden terrace or historic chapel, the setting should match your style while considering comfort, accessibility, and logistics. The right location also ensures beautiful photos, a smooth flow for guests, and peace of mind with weather or permit considerations.
Ceremony Type
When planning a destination wedding, you can choose between two types of ceremonies: legal or symbolic.
A legal ceremony means you are officially married at your destination and receive a marriage certificate recognized at home. These ceremonies often involve extra paperwork, fees, and sometimes even blood tests.
A symbolic ceremony, on the other hand, has no legal standing. Couples are legally married at home before traveling, but at their destination, they celebrate with flowers, music, vows, and all the wedding details. Guests experience it just like any other wedding—and in fact, more than 80% of destination weddings are symbolic!
Guests
Deciding how many people to invite is an important part of planning your destination wedding. Don’t be upset if not everyone on your guest list can join you due to time or budget constraints—generally, about 30–40% of those you invite will be able to attend.
